By tomorrow afternoon the Great Ipswich Duck Race will finally be over! The final event with all 51 finalists takes place at Riverlink tomorrow morning. They each draw a key and see if it wins the new car.

What an ordeal it has been coordinating the ticket sales for the weekly draws. Too much work for such little return, we only sold 3,400 tickets out of the hoped for 20,000. The words “never again” from management have been music to my ears.

  1. Oops a miscommunication occurred. We thought our marketing people were organising the 51 keys, they thought we were. We made do with 10 keys, a padlock and 51 cups. The keys were hidden under the overturned cups and finalists turned a cup over to see if they were in the final ten, then the final ten tried to unlock the padlock to a chest containing the car key. Sounds more complicated than it was I think. The event went very smoothly otherwise, and some very good supporters of the Hospice won the car.

  2. We were having a little giggle at our picture in the paper today – Ros was looking totally surprised that the first key off the rank won the major prize. Look carefully in the background and you could see me with head bent over trusty clipboard.
