Hubby has been watching this old comedy series today. I suppose it’s a classic but I don’t know what anyone sees in it, I can’t stand to watch. The situations John Cleese’s character Basil gets himself into make me cringe! He is such a sarcastic, angry, unlovable man. And I always feel sorry for poor stupid Manuel when Basil goes off at him.

  1. Having been a fan when the series first came out, I also found myself cringing and not amused during re-runs…. all so ‘politically incorrect” by todays standards. Bought the Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister DVDs and initially found them disappointment so only watched a few ‘shows’ before leaving them on the shelf, mostly unwatched. Got them out again just recently and don’t know if it depends on what sort of mood you’re in , or just lowering expectations, but found them a lot funnier this time round! I can’t believe shows like Lost in Space, My Favourite Martian and I Love Lucy were once the Highlight of the weeks viewing…..and try comparing early Star Ttek with later episodes…..!
