Spook

We’ve just brought home a 10 week old female German Shepherd puppy! Hubby has named her “Spook” (just realised how close that is to “Spock”).

Spook was kind of unexpected. One day about a year ago at work, Hubby went out of his way to find the owner of a stray German Shepherd Dog – beautiful pure black boy with a lovely nature. Poor fella had been totally spooked by a storm and broke free of his yard. Hubby loved him, if the owner hadn’t come forward he probably would have brought the boy home. The owner did come forward, and Danae was so grateful to get Ben back she said when her bitch (Shadow) had their first litter of pups she would be in touch to offer hubby one.

Hubby probably never expected to hear from her again but last night got a phone call from Danae. He was very excited about the thought of a puppy despite the impracticalities – we already have two dogs, and Ebony is  dominant and very nasty at times. We decided to go and check out the puppies anyway.

Inevitable then, that one of the puppies came home with us. She is with us on trial, to see how she and Ebony get on. Already there have been a couple of minor scuffles with Ebby, although Boss has been fine with her. She’s a good little puppy so we’re hoping we can work things out with careful management (particularly whenever there is food around!). I’ve just bought a HoundHouse dog kennel for Ebby so she can sleep separately on the other deck.
