This place out west of Toowoomba is one that I’d been hearing lots of good things about for years. In my last holiday break, in December last year, I had the opportunity to finally visit the Bunya Mountains on a day trip. It was a memorable outing with Mum, particularly so after we met up with some other hikers who reported a large snake sunning itself on a section of the track ahead of us. Fortunately it had moved on by the time we arrived.

On the way there, once we got up in the mountains we had to pull over and take in the wonderful view
Our walk through the cool rainforest was heightened by the birdsong and anticipation from a snake sighting
Our reward at the end of the walk (and no snake)
