Helen and I car pooled to Colleges Crossing to join the drum circle yesterday evening, gee it was good. There was Carol, Loreen, Cheryl, Diane and her daughter Kim, all working through the complicated beats we’ve been learning at the Saturday morning class.
To my surprise I was getting compliments on my drumming, Carol even asked if I worked as a “bean counter”. She explained that people in accounting jobs often pick up drumming really well. Interesting. I guess I’m someone who loves systems, and each drum beat is sort of like a system. It’s a matter of thinking the system through and following it. Although sometimes it is a matter of just going with whatever rhythm flows out around you.
