Not quite out of the loop

I should be working on an assignment but I’m taking a moment to reflect on some recent contacts from people I’ve worked with. Even though I’m out of the workforce right now, I am still getting offers of work and requests for assistance in various matters. A few weeks ago I provided advice on setting up a new charity. Over the weekend I gave my thoughts on a salary packaging situation. I was offered casual work from the hospice to help with their fundraising, which I turned down. Another time I would possibly have been very interested. Today another old colleague asked me if I’d be interested in helping her with some financial ‘bits and pieces’ for her company. I’m planning on meeting with her next month to see what she needs.

All of this is kind of amazing to me since I put no effort into networking with folks yet still manage to draw these queries. I’m actually pretty chuffed that they think to ask me for help, quite frankly.
