This is Sarra, she is a big yellow girl – cross-Lab with either a ridgeback or mastiff. I’ve grown to like her a lot, I guess because she’s been at the pound a while and acts happy to see me and is the cleanest, most well-behaved one there at the moment! Very strong, and tough – she sticks up for herself against other big dogs. Little dogs and cats are her prey.

She’s been with us about 6 weeks, she was found at the local tip with another dog – beautiful fellow we called Arnie, looked like a large brindle Sheltie (we couldn’t decide what he was). He went to a home within a few weeks, it’s a shame it wasn’t possible to keep them together, they got on well.

  1. Ludelle phoned this afternoon and mentioned Sarra had found a new home today – for all of five minutes. The fellow who took her didn’t mention he had chooks, and instead of enclosing them he loosed Sarra into the middle of them. Disaster of course, she instantly went on the kill.

When he brought Sarra back Ludelle asked him why he hadn’t locked the chooks up. “Oh they don’t normally get locked up till 6”. What an idiot, as I said to Ludelle I wonder what part of “no small animals” (in Sarra’s rehousing notes) did he not understand?

  2. Sarra has been fortunate to find another new home very quickly after the last one. The lady is not in the best of health so there were some initial concerns because Sarra is a strong girl, but so far there doesn’t seem to be a problem, with reports of Sarra even accompanying her new owner to Church!
