End of an era – that’s what it felt like as I got home from my last dog rescue committee meeting on Saturday. Some mixed feelings about my decision to resign but overall it’s good.
Kathryn organised a farewell gift and card for me, which was a really lovely surprise. It is a crystal tortoise, Kathryn said she hoped life would slow down to turtle pace for me.
Thanks Mum for coming along to support me (and get me out).
An exciting week, we actually consumed some lettuce and a radish from the garden yesterday..
There are a lot more flowers on the tomato bushes and cucumber vines, and one of the capsicum bushes has a tiny little capsicum.
I’ve found that around the edges of each bed, particularly where it gets the sun it is very dry and the plants nearby aren’t doing so well as the others.
I’d planted out some strawberries in another bed, and had a couple left over which I planted in pots – was delighted to discover one of the potted plants now has flowers.

This morning the yard is carpeted with bark, it is a breezy morning and the gum trees are shedding.
I am pleased with the progress of my vegie garden. First the capsicums, and now some of the tomato plants have flowers.
The lettuce barrow is looking very colourful.
Ebby was nearly throttled twice this week so far, for escaping the yard to fight with dogs across the road. So I was intrigued by an ad I saw for the first WiFi Dog Fence. It seems to work with radio signals which trigger an electric shock collar when the dog crosses the boundary.
Unfortunately I think even this would be ineffective against tough nut mutt Ebony.
Finished another few days of leave and returned to work today. Karen’s last day, she’ll be on maternity leave for 12 months. She liked the giggle toy I got for her farewell gift, sent me a text this afternoon to let me know it was giggling in the car as she drove home and made her smile. Alison and Ros organised a huge laundry basket for everyone to contribute gifts and it was overflowing. 🙂 (more…)
