  • Third Boy for Kylie and Andrew

My good friend Kyles had her third little baby yesterday – her hubby Andrew was very good to let us know by email yesterday evening.

Let me introduce to you… Logan Samuel (surname omitted). He was born at 13:55 at Katoomba hospital today, 28/2/06, and weighed a healthy 4.080 kgs or exactly 9 lbs in the old scale. He has a really healthy set of lungs, although he is struggling to work out how to suck at the moment. Kylie is fine, although tired, (even though she did have a caesar). Both Jarrod and Rhys had a hug today and seem okay with him, at the moment.

  • Feeding the Birds

I am married to “the Crazy Bird Man” – since rescuing Scaley my husband has befriended all Scaley’s feathered friends and relations by putting out a regular feed of fresh fruit and nectar mix.

Scaley started flying a couple of weeks ago and comes and goes as he pleases. H just has to hold out his hand and Scaley will land right on it, then he’ll roll over and let H tickle his tummy. Some of the other birds are getting bolder as well – quite often they will go into Scaley’s cage to pinch food, and lately some of them have been landing on H and seeing if he tastes good!

Since we have attracted so many lorikeets lately with the new bird feeder, H & I planted a heap of grevilleas and bottlebrushes in a new garden bed the other weekend. Some bush tucker for them when we’re not around!

H dug the holes and I planted the trees. I’m so pleased they seem to be doing really well – two weeks since we put them in and all have new growth.

  • Webcam Music Video!

I just love what webcams have allowed us to accomplish – humorous lip sync of popular and/or silly songs!

  • Flooded House!

We live in a rural area with only tank water to rely on. If we have a power outage, we don’t have water in the house, because it has to be pumped from the tanks (with an electric pump).

Big power outage today for scheduled maintenance on the transmitter in our street, from 11am to 3pm. I leave before the outage starts. Hubby goes out after, forgetting to turn off the hot water tap in our downstairs bathroom.. no water coming out during the outage of course.

I get home at about 3.30pm, hubby is still out. Unlock the back door to be met by a wave of water! When the power came back on so did the water, and hubby had left the plug in the bathroom basin! Have just spent the last hour or so mopping up.

Can’t really blame hubby too much I suppose – although normally it is me who leaves the taps dripping – and I am always being told to turn them off tight!

  • Police Drive Thru

Gotta love it when the crims come to you, hubby commented as he read a news article about a drunk driver who recently ploughed through the wall of a Gold Coast police station.

I dont know who would have been more surprised – the police on duty, or the driver when he realised he had just crashed into a police station! I exclaimed.

Nah.. hubby answered ..nothing fazes police officers.

  • On the Highway

Driving home today we were overtaken by a beautiful silver Porsche. H commented that the owner was either German or had a good sense of humour – the rego was “SCHNELL” (German for “fast”).
