Chinese Cinderella was written by Adeline Yen Mah and is published by Puffin Books and its ISBN is 0- 14- 130487- 1 and 9780141304878. This is also a true story about Adeline’s life up to the age of fourteen, and after I’ve read this story about her childhood I thought what a inspiration. This is also a story about a sad and lonely life as Adeline’s mother dies after giving birth to her and throughout her childhood she had always struggled to feel accepted by her father. But from her book I thought one way where she did feel that she gained some acceptance from him was one day when she came first in her class, and as she didn’t get his praise very often she thought she had to prove herself by continuing to get high marks. Then what else stood out in her story is her relationship with her step mother. As one of the conflicts that Adeline and her brothers and sister had with her was that she ordered them to find their own way to get to school but they either had to walk to get there and they weren’t allowed to borrow money from their Aunt Baba or grandfather.

Adeline was also the only kid from her father’s first marriage that remained defiant, and in doing so she was able to keep her independence. Adeline also had friends at her first school and was voted by them as the one that they thought would succeed the most.

After doing D05, D06, and D08 I then decided to do the next two lessons to finish off the D group lessons. And in D09 we had to draw a tilted tree on a cliff and think I need more practise at drawing trees as it has been a long time since I’ve last drawn one. Then Brenda got me to draw an avocado because of its bumpy surface and thought it was okay but also thought that perhaps I’m better at drawing people. And since doing these art lessons from drawspace people have told me that my drawing skills has really improved.

Today I have done three lessons from drawspace D05 was a cartoon called Sam and Samantha or really it was Sam or Samantha as one had short curly hair and the other had bits of fizzy hair sticking out and we were given the option of drawing both or just one. Then D06 Brenda got me to draw a spruce tree and I think mine looks a bit like our old christmas tree, and after doing that I then did D08 and in this lesson Brenda got us to draw another cartoon called Billy Blob, and to me he looked as though he was a drop of water that was squirkled in and I also had to draw a face on it.
