After I had dinner with my parents last night, I went out and saw that Ilse was having fun showing off with a green plastic toy spade in her mouth. Her antics made me laugh, and I wished that I had my digital camera on me at the time.

Earlier today I decided to look up news about Deltora Quest and discovered that: these popular books that Emily Rodda wrote has been turned into a anime series over in Japan. It’s probably old news for some people but as I mainly read books when I’m not doing anything else it is new to me and for more information here’s a website address:

When I do a recall with Ilse I always jackpot it. But I also noticed that sometimes she veers off to one side even though her pace is terrific. Then as mum and I were training our dogs with Trish on Wednesday, when I got up to the recall I decided to look somewhere above Ilse and not directly at her. And the result was she came in straight. Also knowing how to use your eyes is important in dog training and trialling, as when I was trialling Deena in UD mum often wondered how we did the signals?

And it wasn’t until mum had handled Dee a few times in the ring that she noticed that after I left Dee on a stand stay during signals only, when the judge told me to down my dog I looked at Dee and gave her the signal and I did the same when the judge told me to sit and call your dog.

Also when I told mum that I had worked out the problem with the recall with Ilse, she told me that when she does a recall she looks to where she wants her dog to go.

This is the seventh book that John Flanagan wrote in his Ranger’s Apprentice series. And as the events in this book took place before the events of book five and six, I decided to do a review on book seven before doing reviews on books five and six.

Also like all the other Ranger Apprentice books the seventh book is published by Random House Australia and the ISBN is 978-1-74166-209-2 and the other ISBN number is 9 781741 662092. In this book Halt’s and Lady Pauline’s wedding is gate crashed by a Skandian named Svengal. As the reason he is sent there is to get help for Erak who is now the Oberjarl of Skandia.

The Araluens agree to pay the ransom as Erak is being held hostage in Arrida, and I think the book stated that the reason why Erak told Svengal to go to Araluen instead of their own country is because they knew that paying a ransom even for their Oberjarl wouldn’t have gone down well. And the other reason is that they knew that it was a set up and also knew who might have been behind it.

Will, Halt, Horace, and Gilan are the ones that are sent on this mission, but King Duncan is very reluctant at first to let his daughter who is Princess Cassandra go as his representative. But after seeking some advice from Lady Pauline he eventually comes round and allows his daughter to go. Also after the mission party arrive in Arrida they soon find out that there is some decieving going on: while the negotiation was in progress.

Then after the agreement was finally made the mission party then finds out: that Selethen had Erak escorted to somewhere else. He then agrees to take them to where Erak was now being held as the Princess wasn’t going to hand over the ransom before then.

But the journey there meant that they had to go through a desert, and Will loses his horse because he had let go of Tug’s reins during a sandstorm. The party then separates as Will goes off on his own to find him and the part that had brought me to tears on the first reading is after Will had found Tug again, to get him back he had to risk losing him again. But that wasn’t the end of this story.

The book called Ranger’s Apprentice: Oakleaf Bearers is the fourth book that John Flanagan wrote in this series. And is published by Random House Australia. Also the book’s ISBN is 1-74166-082-3 and the other ISBN is 9 781741 660821.

This book also sees that Will recovers from a dependency of an addictive drug, but then as he is recovering his strength he realises: Evanlyn is missing and then we see that some of his ranger apprentice training comes back to him and he sets off to try to find her. 

Will then discovers tracks that suggests that she has been taken hostage. Halt and Horace are also on their way to Skandia: and after they meet up with Will they find out:

That the party that has taken Evanlyn are called the Temujai who are warriors and it is discovered that they are planning an invasion on Skandia. The three also come across Erak who is secretly on their side.

They also manage to get Evanlyn back from the Temujai, and as they discovered what the Temujai planned to do Will, Halt, Horace, and Evanlyn offer their help to the Skandians to fight the Temujai.

But then Evanlyn’s true identity is discovered. As she is really the king of Araluen daughter, and the current Oberjarl has sworn some sort of oath against her father, and his relatives in revenge for the death of his son. However, Evanlyn uncovers a plot and it is decided that nothing is to be done about the king’s daughter until the war with the Temujai is over.

On Tuesday, mum and I went out as we had an appointment with Nola the hairdresser. And as we were driving home my mother decided to get some milk at the shopping centre at Plainlands. Anyway, she got the milk but she and a whole crowd of other people had to stand around as the management only had one checkout open. But mum gets a laugh as an irrate old man bellows out “we need more checkout chics.”

Mum and I took Ilse and Dita to Ipswich Dog Training on Thursday for the ring runout, and our dogs done well. I was pleased with the left about turns that Ilse and I did as she didn’t overshoot me. And a few people also asked me what do I call my dog? And I tell them Ilsa but I also call her Ilse. Also sometimes when I tell them her name they say Elsa so I then spell her name out to them. However when I told David her name is Ilsa when I spelt it out I said “E” at the end instead of “A,” he probably thinks that I can’t spell.

I got my boxed set of The Spiderwick Chronicles last Thursday, and it took less than a day for me to read all five books.

The books are written by Holly Black, and the illustrations are done by Tony DiTerlizzi and I thought they are fantastic. Also the books are published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers and their ISBN is -13: 978-0-689-04034-4 and ISBN -10:0-689-04034-2. And the books titles are: The Field Guide, The Seeing Stone, Lucinda’s Secret, The Ironwood Tree, and The Wrath Of Mulgarath.

And the main characters in the stories are twin brothers who are named Jared and Simon Grace, and they have an older sister whose name is Mallory. And as their parents are divorced or separated they live with their mother whose name is Helen. Also the Grace family originally come from New York and when they move into their Great Aunt’s old victorian house strange things happen and after Jared finds a book that is called The Field Guide the three children then open their eyes to a different world to their own that they originally didn’t believe in. I also like the way Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi had put themselves into the story.
