Having read all of the books from Deltora Quest 1 by Emily Rodda which is a while back now, I have now recently read her other two volumes called Deltora Quest 2 and Deltora Quest 3. And again like her first volume that is called Deltora Quest 1 these books are published by Scholastic and as this is a review of Deltora Quest 2 its ISBN is 978-1-86504-942-7.

This book is also three books in one, and the three stories are titled: The Cavern of The Fear, The Isle of Illusion, and The Shadowlands. And this book follows on after the events that happened in Book 1 as Lief is now the King of Deltora and he wears the belt all the time and in doing so he protects all of Deltora. But in this book he is spending a lot of time with Doom and the library. And there has also been a couple of attempts on King Lief’s life as the Shadow Lord wants Lief to remain childless.

However after the failed attempts these people kill themselves, so there are no prisoners and now King Lief keeps more to himself and Jasmine is getting frustrated about being cooped up in a palace, and is annoyed with Lief as he seemed to decide to isolate himself from Barda and her too. And she also finds out that the palace gossip is that King Lief has gone to Tora in search for a wife. But before Jasmine decides to get away from the palace as she thinks she has a younger sister who is called Faith ( which she discovered when she discovered a room in the library that had a table with a crystal in it) she then goes to the place that was her parents house before her parents switched identities with Lief’s parents.

There she discovers a note that someone has wrote in code so she realises that someone has been there quite recently. As the coals where a blacksmith works were still warm.

This book is also very intriguing, as does Jasmine really have a younger sister called Faith? Or is it a scheme that has been thought up by the Shadow Lord because he knew that she would take the bait?

And also is King Lief really looking for a wife in Tora, when he knows that his country is in turmoil because of the Shadow Lord? Also while King Lief is searching for the three missing pieces that when put together it is known as: The Pirran Pipe. As the reason why he needs the Pirran Pipe is because the Deltora Belt cannot be taken out of its realm.

And the musical instrument will help Lief rescue the people that he rules over (that are now prisoners of the Shadow Lord). As to get to them Jasmine, Lief, and Barda need to enter The Shadowlands where the Shadow Lord is known to be.

 We discover too that a world exists that is below the world we read about in this book and that there is a person who is some sort of adventurer that is called Doran “The Dragonlover.”

And Doran is also a friend to the people that Lief has to get the three missing pieces that make up the Pirran Pipe from.

They also let him borrow it because he, Jasmine, and Barda succeed in getting the pieces back. It also explains in the book why it was taken apart in the  first place.  

Also another thing about Doran is that he not only went on adventures to discover things, but also wrote about them in books that are known as: The Deltora Annals which up until now were thought to be lost.

The Ipswich Obedience Club held a sweepstake last night, and mum and I had Ilse and Ruebens entered. Ilse was entered in the CCD class, and Ruebens and mum competed in the Open Class. And although both our dogs didn’t pass we were both pleased with what they did.

Mum told me that Ruebens did some little variations, but was getting through until the drop on recall. As he came when called then dropped on command: then when mum called him again he wasn’t looking. He and mum then went in for the out of sight stays and he stood up during the sit stay and the judge told mum that he didn’t even look like moving in the down.

Ilse got 22 out of 30 for the heeling, and this was the top score for this exercise for a while. But she move too much for the stand for exam so we didn’t pass this exercise, and she did another extremely good recall.

And even though she could have got a possible 78NQ I decided to withdraw her. As mum suggested it and so we didn’t go in for the stays.

When mum and I turned up to train Ilse and Ruebens at Laidley, we saw a bus and a small crowd of people were standing over near where people can practice playing cricket. Later I found out that there was some kind of flower festival on. And when we were leaving we saw two more buses and mum told me that they were doing some flower judging in the Laidley Cultural Centre (or handing out awards.) I then immediately thought that the judges must be judging pot plants.

Ilse and I was in another obedience trial today, it was at Toowoomba and they have one on Mother’s Day and today is Father’s Day. Dad knows he is getting a CD for Father’s Day but mum had to send away for it so I gave him a card, and a packet of Red Rock chips and mum gave him slippers.

Well Father’s Day almost brought us luck as Ilse and I were just a bit unlucky that we didn’t get our second pass. We were going for 80 out of one hundred in the CCD class.

But it was unfortunate that there was a major distraction when we went in for the stays.

As a dog broke shortly after being left, and it decided to go over to the one beside it and it broke. Then Ilse and another dog broke too.

The judge then decided to redo the sit stay exercise. But unfortunately it was windy. And Ilse mustn’t have heard me tell her stay, (as I got a soft voice) as when I turned around I found that Ilse didn’t stay there, she was with me. I withdrew her after that, and our next one will be held next weekend.

Mum’s dog Dita was going for her CD title today, but she didn’t go down in The Change Position exercise so mum withdrew her too.

This is another one of Emily Rodda’s entertaining stories that is published by Omnibus Books, which are an imprint of Scholastic. Also its ISBN is 9781862917507 and this story evolved around two children who are from our world but one is happy to follow rules, and does what is expected of him. And he is Leo, and the other is his cousin Mimi who likes to break the rules just because they are there and basically doing whatever she feels like.

And in fact because she likes to manipulate that is why she is staying with Leo, and his parents for a month while her parents go on a holiday.

As there was no one else and Mimi liked her violin lessons, and couldn’t bare parting with her dog who is named Mutt. And because she didn’t want to lose her dog this is the reason why Leo and Mimi go on this adventure or quest. This is because the Blue Queen had taken Mutt back to her world and the reason why she could do this is because she knew the dog’s name.

I also couldn’t help thinking that this was a bit like The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S Lewis but more modern. And I also couldn’t help imagining that Mimi was a lot like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz as I could see Dorothy doing the same thing for her dog named Toto. Also the reason why Leo, and Mimi could go to this other world is because their Aunt Bethany had died. And she left Leo the music box, because he reminded her of her very sensible Uncle Henry; while Mimi chose a pendant. And this is because Aunt Bethany left her and her older twin sisters her jewellery.

As Mimi told Leo that out of all Aunt Bethany’s jewellery that is all she wanted to keep. 

Leo at first went on this adventure unwillingly, and to hopefully talk some sense into Mimi, and convince her to return home but she wanted to get her beloved Mutt back first. And also in the three days that they stayed in this magical other world he didn’t want to go either.

That is because he had figured out that a man named Spoiler was really Uncle George, and because Uncle “Spoiler” George gave the Blue Queen the power to do these horrible things he wanted his Uncle brought to some sort of justice for allowing the Blue Queen to do these dreadful things she did. The Key to Rondo is a thrilling tale with a happy ending and will be looking forward to reading its sequel when it comes out. And that is called The Wizard of Rondo.

This book is by an Australian author named Simon French, and its ISBN: 9781561454433 and the publisher of this edition is called Peachtree Publishers Limited. I first found this book while I was wandering around in the children books section in a local library, and I decided then to take it home so that I could read it. And I loved it so much that I like to get my own copy of the book.

The story is set in Germany at first as it is about a boy named Ari who plays the violin, and then he migrates to Australia with his mother who is a widow. But before they moved to Australia, Ari and his mother lived with the boy’s grandfather who also plays the violin. He also encourages Ari’s interest in music, and Ari idolises him.

Ari and his mother first came to Australia on a holiday, and then his mother met a man that also likes and enjoys playing music and eventually,they end up getting married. But this means moving away from Ari’s grandfather. He also has to make new friends, and Ari feels self conscious about his love of music, and playing the violin. And although he keeps practicing he tries to keep it a secret.

However, when his friend at school finds out that he plays the violin, he doesn’t make fun of it. He just thinks Ari is real good at playing the violin. And his friend tells the headmaster about it. Then suddenly Ari’s secret is no secret anymore.

But that is not the only secret he is keeping. As Ari takes private violin lessons, and his teacher finds out that Ari has been writing his own music for some time. However, Ari’s world is temporary turned upside down when he is told that his grandfather has died.

Then he discovers that he can still turn to music, and playing his violin to heal himself and it also allows him to form a new friendship with another boy who also plays the violin.
