The book called Fire Star is the third book in Chris d’Lacey’s popular Dragon Series and this book was first published in Great Britian 2005, and then it was first published in the paperback version in 2006 by Orchard Books again and the book’s ISBN is 978 1 84362 522 3.

I also found the Fire Star book very interesting to read as it wasn’t just set in the Artic but it also featured the Pennykettles who stayed at their house with the clay dragons in Scrubbley Kent. But both Lucy and her mother Liz were aware that strange things were happening. For instance, Liz recognised the ink marks on the book contract that her boarder David Rain signed: as she thought that the marks on the paper are the same marks that her aunt made on Zanna’s arm. And so Liz became wary of it and as she didn’t trust her aunt she didn’t post the contract to the publisher’s. However as Lucy had a letter to post herself she discovers that her mother hadn’t posted David’s contract for him yet.

And this wasn’t because Lucy was snooping but she found it by chance as Liz also asked Lucy to post letters for her too.

Also Gretel had a hand in Lucy finding the unposted signed contract, as this clay dragon was very aware that Liz hadn’t posted the contract too. And as she was unaware of her mother’s suspicions of their aunt at the time Lucy posted the contract to David’s publishers, and then Lucy confronted her mother about it as she discovered that her mum was lying.

As Liz made out that she posted the contract when really she hadn’t.

Lucy also thought that it was an awful thing that her mum did though her mother explains why, then one of David’s dragons called G’reth disappears, and after a phone call from Liz David then returns to her house in Scrubbley after hearing that Gwilanna had kidnapped Lucy, but then that’s not all as after he returned David guesses where Gwilanna had taken Lucy and then there’s more unexplainable things happening as David’s girlfriend who is Zanna disappears too as she is still at the Artic. Meanwhile as all this is happening David still has a book to write.

The Fire Within was first published in Great Britian by Orchard Books in 2001. And this book is the one before Icefire and its author is Chris d’Lacey. Also the book’s ISBN is 978 1 84121 533 4. And the story starts with a twenty year old college student who wrote to Liz Pennykettle saying that he is interested in renting the room but of course there are conditions attached. Then after David had been there for a short while Liz gives David one of her special dragons which he names Gadzooks.

And then after David is given a clay dragon of his own, David then starts getting ideas for stories whenever he thinks of Gadzooks. And it seems uncanny but whatever David Rain writes down on his trusty computer seems to be taking place in real life. As when David first met Liz’s eleven year old daughter who is Lucy she asked him whether he liked squirrels? And he told Lucy that he liked red squirrels. David then finds out that Lucy is concerned about a squirrel she called Conker and he is a injured grey squirrel.

David then does anything he can to help Lucy capture Conker so that he can be helped. And David also writes a story about it as a birthday present for Lucy.

Then after David had gone to the library to find a book on squirrels, he is then told by a helpful lady that there are squirrels in the garden park near the library, and that’s where he finds Snigger who is a squirrel who smiles and apart from Conker the squirrel named Snigger plays a major role in David’s story. And I think that anyone who likes to read animal stories and especially about trying to save animals may like reading Chris d’Lacey’s The Fire Within.

Walt Disney put out a movie some years ago now called Dinosaur, and it’s rated P.G. I used to have this movie on video though I don’t have this video anymore. But as mum and I went shopping at Gatton I saw this movie on DVD and as I enjoyed watching it so much I brought it. The story was about a dinosaur that was called Aladar who gets separated from his species and as he was found by a clan of monkeys that are called lemurs Aladar gets brought up by them instead. But one of the lemurs thought to get rid of Aladar after he hatched out of his egg but though this lemur tried he found he couldn’t. Then some years later a meteor shower crashes into earth which forces Aladar and his adopted family to leave home. They then found a herd of other dinosaurs and so they decided to go where they were going.

Then after finding himself at the back of the herd Aladar then meet two other dinosaur types of a different species, and he befriended them because he saw that they needed his help. As they walked slower than the others.

And it was because he knew that his new friends were having so much trouble keeping up, that Aladar went to the leader of the group and that was when Aladar discovers that the leader who I think was Crome and he thought on a different wave length. As to bossy Crome who tried leading his pack to a known waterhole and then to the nesting grounds only the strongest and the fittest survive, and so it was an outrageous idea to Crome when Aladar suggested slowing down. And I also think why I like this movie so much is because it shows two different ways that leadership can come about.

This multiple award winning fantasy book is by Carole Wilkinson, and is published by Black Dogs Books. And the book was first published in 2003 but the edition I have was published in 2008. Also the book’s ISBN is: 9781742030593 and I also think that anyone that enjoyed The Neverending Story would enjoy reading Dragon Keeper which is the book before “Garden of the Purple Dragon” and “Dragon Moon.”

The Dragon Keeper book is about an unhappy slave girl called Ping but while she worked at The Haungling Palace or really she worked near it as she wasn’t allowed in she didn’t know her name until the dragon that she rescued from being slaughtered told her and his name is Danzi. Also Danzi is very protective about the Dragon Stone and Ping doesn’t know why as she just thinks it’s a pretty gem.

But it was her job to look after it: though she learns how the hard way.

Danzi also wants to go to the ocean. As beyond that is The Isle Of The Blest but although Ping and Danzi do meet good people along the way they also meet some people who would harm them, as this is because they only want the dragon and the dragon stone for their own greedy purposes. And while they are traveling to the Ocean Ping learns that not everyone are what they seem like Jiang.

While I was surfing the net yesterday, I found that The Book Club Forum had a section on Manga. And then I came across something about Doctor Who being done as Manga. I then got off The Book Club Forum so that I could get on the YouTube website to see what I could find and that’s when I discovered that Doctor Who is soon coming out in Anime version. My sister Liss is a great fan of Doctor Who, and I like it too and here is a couple of links to what I found:

When mum and I went down to Plainlands Shopping Centre, on Wednesday we found that a stall was set up that day. And the person that was running the stall sold music cds and jewellery. Then as I like to listen to a bit of music occasionally I decided to have a look at the music cds.

As it has been a while since I have added to my collection. And so after I did my shopping I then went over to the stall and had a look. I also found a good collection of music, and when I saw Cher The Greatest Hits I didn’t hesitate as I picked it up straight away and brought it.

The cd has 19 tracks on it with a good collection of songs and as I already played the cd three times since I got it, the cd is already one of my favourites: as I enjoyed listening to every song on it. The other cd I got that day is called Abba Gold.

I’m very pleased with my miniature schnauzer who I named Ilse, as I think she is a wonderful dog. People have also told me that she is quiet for a schnauzer too.

Although Ilse does have moments when she becomes a bit noisy. However my parents and I have always tried to work out what’s the best thing to do when she did barked? And we seem to be getting somewhere, as she is a lot better now. And as it has been a while since I wrote something about training dogs I decided that I should write another post about dogs that bark. As I understand how upsetting problem behaviours in dogs can be. My mother use to tell me that Ilsa’s barking was separation anxiety, and then I would say to mum that Ilse isn’t a neurotic dog. Also recently I told mum that Ilse may have a bit of separation anxiety, but most of her noise making is because she is a demanding dog. And mum agreed with me.

I also like to stress, how important it is when a problem is re occuring that the dog’s owner should talk about it. As this is one of the things that I did with mum and dad. As I made my parents understand that Ilse doesn’t understand what she is doing wrong, as barking and talking is perfectly natural for her.

And the problem barking occurred whenever I had to go out somewhere and when I returned. And we tried filling a squirter bottle and squirting her whenever she became noisy but this my parents and I found only confuse her. And of course we tried telling her be quiet but that didn’t work either. However, we found that throwing water in a jug is very effective, even if she runs from it. And giving Ilse a meaty bone or chicken wing to chew on as I head out is also effective.

Also other things that work are calling Ilse and bringing her inside, and when mum lets her dogs out and Ilse is reacting we then tell her to sit. As I read somewhere that this is another way that dog owners can control barking.

However, I find that getting Ilse to sit when she barks is more effective with her when there are other dogs about. And it is a good idea to have other ways to deal with the problem with barking dogs.

As we need to try different approaches to find solutions to the problem with barkers. As there are different reasons why dogs bark and it isn’t always a good idea to ignore it. Barking is also an ongoing problem and owners of dogs need to accept the responsibility of managing it better and I hope that some of the ideas I wrote in this post has helped.

Last Friday, mum and I went down to the shopping centre at Plainlands, but before we went there mum told me that she wanted to go across the road to get the dog meat. So we went to the butcher’s first.

And as we were driving in to park the car, mum and I were behind a silver car and there was another car that was heading out. And for reasons best known to themselves my mother saw the driver that was heading out give the driver in the silver car the finger.

Icefire is a story that Chris d’Lacey wrote. And it was first published in Great Britian in 2003 by Orchard Books. Also the ISBN is 978-1-84362-134-8 and this book is about a college student called David Rain who is boarding with the Pennykettles. Their names are Liz and Lucy, and Liz is Lucy’s mother and they make dragon sculptures from clay. They also have a secret which David soon discovers.

David also has a girlfriend called Sophie who goes to Africa and gains experience looking after the wildlife over there as she works with animals. And David also has another friend, and she goes to the same college. And her name is Zanna. She also dresses in black and as they are both geography students they are given separate assignments to do.

Anyway Zanna pops over to give David a book about Dragons to help him with his assignment. And this was while the Pennykettles were out, and as Zanna is a curious person they go in the room where the clay dragons are kiln. And then without knowing that she had “the quickening gift” at the time Zanna picks up an egg that was made out of clay, and something happens. But then that’s not all as after that a mysterious aunt turns up, and David temperarily moves next door as “the aunt” has taken over. But while David was in Mr Bacon’s house he learns more about the polar bears, and dragons of course.
