Scaley is the little green Scaly Breasted Lorikeet chick Hubby rescued late last year, that I’ve mentioned on here before. Eventually Scaley returned to the wild, but he still comes down for a pat occasionally (as well as a special feed).
Lately we’ve noticed Scaley has a companion! He must have been saying good things about us, since his companion has let me pat her as well! I’m assuming Scaley’s companion is a “she”, since we’ve always assumed Scaley was a “he”. But thats just semantics.
It is difficult for me to tell the birds apart – fortunately Scaley has a yellow tip on his tail, but you have to examine closely!
I don’t know how he does it, but Hubby has names for most of the “regulars” who come to the feeder and has less trouble identifying them. But since he has spent more time studying them than I have, I guess that’s only natural.
They are fine little birds, fascinating to watch.
