Last week I learned the terrible fact that my vegies would take months, not weeks to mature to harvest. I think I will need to put in some more garden beds so I can stagger my planting!

Checking my chakra
Chatting to Denis at work today about biorhythms.. he was telling me he rarely makes important decisions on a Monday because his emotional cycle is at a low ebb.
Biorhythms also affect mental and physical states at different cycles, calculated from your date of birth. Found a web site that calculates where you are in your biorythmic cycle at www.bio-chart.com.
Did some further reading and learned about chakras – a series of eight centres of the body that process energy, influencing our physical, emotional, mental and intuitive states. There is an interesting questionnaire at www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras which helps to measure the status of each of your chakras. They are either under-active, open or over-active. The ideal state is open. These questions examine how you feel or perceive yourself, and your place in the universe.
Chakras can be “opened” through chakra meditations, which rely on energy generating hand positions (“mudras”) and chants. This is where I get a little bit sceptical.. but I’m thinking if nothing else this could be a good relaxation technique.

Ebby under the weather
Poor Ebony has been a bit crook, throwing up for the last couple of days. H. thought also there was a bit of blood in her stool. Took her to the vet, who did x-ray, couldn’t find any obstruction. She was dehydrated so they stuck her on a drip all day, and I picked her up on my way home from work. Still don’t know what was wrong, something she ate the vet reckons.

Vegie garden
During my week of absence from work I have been spending a lot of time in the garden. We got hold of a water tank offcut, which we thought would make a good vegie garden bed.
In this bed I planted tomatoes, cucumber, spring onions, radishes, capsicums and pumpkin, along with some yellow zinnia flowers and basil. We decided to site it near the dog runs; I thought it would help give the area a bit of a lift. H commented that Ebby would probably scare away any marauding possums.
Adjacent to Ebby’s run I decided to plant some fragrant plants and herbs. There is lavender, peppermint, pineapple sage, lemon balm and camomile.
We converted this old broken wheelbarrow to a garden bed for several varieties of lettuce and rocket (the stakes are there to help guard against Spook using it as a launch pad).
