Yesterday I had a few goes at crochet and I did two types of stitches which are called the chain stitch and then I did the single crochet. Also at first my work was a bit bumpy, and I was doing the stitches too tight but then I read if I had put the stitch on the thickest part of the hook the stitches won’t get so tight. And people who crochet usually hold the hook in their right hands, and there is a special way of holding the wool too but I think holding the wool like that is too difficult for me.

Dragonsight is the third book in The Jelindel Chrinicles that Paul Collins wrote, the book was also published by Penguin Group and its ISBN number is 0 14 300328 3 and in this book an Adept 12 by the name of Fa’red seems to working on his own plans. As Fa’red had stolen the dragonsight and had put it among The Stone People as he thought it would be hard to find.

And Jelindel, Daretor, and Zimak only have six weeks to find the dragonsight and return it. As unknowingly, the three had drank a slow acting poison and so have to return back with the dragonsight so that they could recieve the antidote.

Also when they got the chance Jelindel, and Daretor found Fa’red but in the end Fa’red got away but not without making things harder for them.

And despite of having problems of their own, they were also doing what they could to help people along the way as in one town they went to they discovered that a prophecy had to be fulfilled. Jelindel was also trying to work out what the first language was and as always she went to a temple that she knew had a library but then she met a priestess that had a long memory and was rather unhelpful.

Jelindel then was told that all she needed to do was talk to a dragon to find out what the first language was. And she was in one of the paraworlds at the time.

And so when Daretor, and Jelindel returned to where the others were Jelindel then asked the dragon that was helping them, as she wanted to know the meaning of a particular word. Then after the dragon told her what the word she wanted to know means, Jelindel was then able to work out where The Stone People were.

At Luke’s Place Lockyer there are a few intellectually disabled people interested in golf, and as I’ve been watching it occurrred to me that the supervisors shouldn’t let them hit the ball in the air as they’ll never know when a car will drive along at the wrong moment as a golf ball that has gone over the fence can do anything like distract the driver from their driving or put a crack in the driver’s windscreen.

I also spoken to my parents about it and they agree with me that being allowed to hit balls high is a danger if it goes over the fence. And I have actually mentioned to the supervisor that people should hit the ball low or put the ball instead and as the possible danger hasn’t occured to the supervisors yet I think that I might approach a supervisor and bring it up.

But like I’ve already said we’ll never know when a car will come along at the wrong moment, and I’ve heard how dangerous throwing rocks at cars and trucks can be and so imagine what a golf ball can do?

I think that the intellectually disabled should only put the ball along the ground when doing it at the centre and save hitting the golf ball in the air when the supervisors take them to a real golf course as it’ll be a lot safer doing it there.

Luke’s Place Lockyer occasionally has a blind man visiting us. And usually he gets about with a cane but today he had a guide dog with him and it was a yellow labrador but not rich yellow, and it was just lying down when I saw it and the dog had a whole group of people looking at it, and a woman was there who I suppose was the dog’s original trainer and she was there to help the blind guy get the knack of handling this dog.

And one of the supervisors told the lady that I am a dog trainer, and I told her that I used to trial dogs in obedience. Also today I helped clean the golf clubs as we have a few disabled people interested in playing golf, and this afternoon three of us were coming up with ideas on designing a small golf course.

Anyway, I came up with quite a few ideas for what we could use, and quite enjoyed making suggestions. However I wasn’t able to take three of the library books back today as they were having the mini buses serviced and I also needed to pick a book up too.

Paul Collins wrote this second book that belongs in The Jelindel Chronicles which was published by Penguin Books Australia and the book’s ISBN number is 0 14 300309 7 and this is another of Jaelin’s adventures that involves visiting faraway places but this time it involves travelling by sea.

Jaelin is also hopeful that she can get Daretor and Zimak back as she come across a way of doing that by reading about some very powerful gems. This book also had humour in it such as there was a king and a queen that stole other peoples bodies so that they could live and rule forever, and when Jaelin or Jelindel found out that Daretor’s and Zimak’s bodies have been switched it must have been something that had taken her by surprise as she met up with Daretor straight away but at first Jelindel thought that she was talking to Zimak until Daretor explained and then the reason Jaelin wanted to find Zimak and Daretor is because she felt very guilty about having to do what she thought was best at the time.

Anyway, the three end up returning to their own world and Daretor and Jelindel become lovers, and there is also a lot of scheming going on in the book called Dragonfang but the character that is called Preceptor and his Adept 12 are stopped again.

Dragonlinks was a book that Paul Collins wrote, and is book one of The Jelindel Chronicles. Also the book was published by Penguin Books Australia in 2002 and the ISBN number is 0 14 131425 7 and this story is about a girl called Jelindel who is a scholar as she likes to read books on various subjects, but while she is outside looking at the stars her family is attacked and killed by lindraks and her home is burnt down. She then quickly realizes that she had to change her identity and go into hiding.

And so she now uses a boys name which is Jaelin and Jelindel quickly finds work as a scribe. But she also befriends a boy named Zimak and he teaches Jaelin how to fight while “he” teaches Zimak how to read and write. Then one day two people come to their town and one of them gives Zimak a message to pass on and being curious he reads their letters and later on he tells Jaelin about what he was able to understand. Then Jaelin wanted to see one of the people that gave a message but the person was a mage and Zimak ends up being magically trapped by him.

Jaelin then does everything he can think of to help Zimak and Jaelin succeeds by cutting the mage’s head off but then Jaelin and Zimak get caught up in this adventure about a mailshirt that is very powerful as it absorbs information on skills but the mailshirt isn’t whole yet and that is what Jaelin, Zimak, and Daretor set out to do. But other people also want this particular mailshirt too.

Wolf’s Brother is the sequel to a book that is called The Reindeer People which Megan Lindholm wrote and the book was also published by Voyager which is an imprint of Harper Collins Publishers and the ISBN for the book is 0 00 7114346.

Wolf’s Brother follows on after the conclusion of The Reindeer People, as Capiam who is the leader of his tribe of Reindeer People was successful in getting Tillu to agree to join his tribe as she was a healer and they could use her skills.

And as Tillu has agreed to go to the Cataclysm with the tribe the herdlord who is Capiam, then gives Tillu her own reindeer but Joboam isn’t very happy that Tillu, and her son Kerlew, and Kerlew’s mentor Carp are joining his tribe and as a result most of Capiam family becomes very ill and the herdlord’s son dies.

But then that isn’t all that is happening as Kari is desperately trying to get out of having to marry Purtsi and also as I continued to read I discovered that something must of happened to Kari and Joboam was the cause of it. Kerlew is also trying to get his vision and finally succeeds but when he returns with Heckram they find out from Tillu that Carp and Kari are both dead. But then Kerlew tells his mother and Heckram that he knows things and the next morning Kerlew disappears but Tillu and Heckram finds him in the herdlord’s tent, and though Joboam is trying to put the blame of herdlord’s family sickness on Tillu and Heckram it was really Joboam that made the herdlord’s family sick.

Megan Lindholm wrote this book that took me two days to read and it was published by Voyager which is a imprint of Harper Collins Publishers. Also the book’s ISBN number is 0 00 711422 2 and while I was reading this book I could imagine Tillu’s experience with her son Kerlew may be similar to what parents go through who have disabled children who depend on them. Except I don’t think Kerlew was really disabled as he was just different in the way he thought and talked and he had trouble remembering what people said.

Children from the Benu tribe also found out that Kerlew had an extreme fear of bears, as whenever Kerlew heard growling noises he would run to his tent while the kids laughed at him.

Also as Kerlew and Tillu were often travelling by themselves Tillu told her son that if he heard a bear that he should stop gathering food and run and although Tillu often felt annoyed with how most people treated her son she never was sorry about what she told Kerlew to do if there was a bear nearby. However though Tillu’s son was unpopular with most people there were a couple of people who treated her son well like Carp who was a shaman and has taken Kerlew on as his apprentice but as Tillu didn’t feel happy about that she tries to take her son away from Carp’s influence but she was totally unaware that her son was helping Carp find them but then she knew that Carp would find them eventually. Also the other person that treated her son well was a man called Heckram and he was from a tribe that was called The Reindeer People.

Heckram also treated Kerlew well because he knew what it was like to grow up without a father, and though he was aware of Kerlew’s differences he wasn’t quick to judge Kerlew like other people were.

As instead of placing judgement on Kerlew he spends some time teaching Kerlew how to carve spoons, and one time they went hunting together too, and under Heckram guidance Kerlew shot and killed three rabbits. But even though Heckram was definitely a good influence, Kerlew’s mother was still wary and protective of her son.

Today I didn’t know what we were doing at Luke’s Place today, as I wasn’t given this month’s calendar until today. But I came prepared as I brought in a vegetarian recipe and the vegetarian meal that I decided on was called Baked Layered Vegetable Fritata and seven people elected to have it and it was really nice and it was made out of egg and vegetable like spinach, potato, and sweet potato, and also brocoli.

I also heard a supervisor that ate some of the fritata say “that even if you didn’t like spinach, you could eat that fritata.” Three people also elected to have burritos, and then once we worked out what we were having for lunch we went shopping at Plainlands and when we got back some of us prepared the lunches that we were having and I chopped up the spinach. I also went to the library, as I had to take a book back and get some more books.

Then on the way home I felt some wetness on my leg, as I had my bag on my lap. And I opened the bag and saw that my drink bottle was open and water was leaking out. So I then put the lid back on, and when I got home I explained that my bag leaked as I discovered that my drink bottle was open, and I also said it looks like something else doesn’t it? And dad said glad you told us.

The Dragon Keeper is a book that I have just finished reading and is the first book in the series that is called The Rain Wild Chronicles that Robin Hobb wrote, and is published by Harper Voyager which is an imprint of Harper Collins Publishers. Also this book’s ISBN number is 978 0 00 727376 8 and this book follows the events of quite a few people such as the keeper of the birds, and then the book also tells us about Alise Kincarron’s marriage to Hest Finbok which isn’t a marriage at all.

As Alise soon discovers that Hest is quite a cruel person. However the marriage to Hest had allowed her to purchase items so that she could continue educating herself about dragons and elderlings. As he is one of the Bingtown Traders, and Hest and Alise had both signed an agreement in their marriage vows that Alise could go to the place called The Rain Wilds, as there are deformed dragons there that the locals look after as that was what they had agreed to do. Alise also wants to go to The Rain Wilds so that she could study them and continue with her self education.

But the dragons wasn’t what people expected, as they never expected them to be deformed though they did think that the dragons would not be so dependent of them. And then as Alise Kincarron Finbok is travelling to get to where the dragons are she discovers that they are to be moved to a place that perhaps many of the people there haven’t heard of and this place that the dragons dream of is called Kelsingra.

Also Alise finds that she can make rather independent decisions, and discovering this fact about Alise upsets Sedric who is her chaperone when he found out that she had signed a contract to help move the dragons as the council discovers that she was useful for them as being a scholar she let them know that she knew quite a bit about Kelsingra from her collection of scrolls. Sedric also makes it clear to everyone that he is very keen to get back to Bingtown but he has plans of his own too, and after Alise had told him the truth about Hest we also discovered what sort of relationship he has with Hest too, as Sedric isn’t just Hest’s secretary.

 And then after Sedric had listened, and spoken to Alise he then returned back to the privacy of his room and thinks about how his relationship with Hest had started.
