Luke’s Place Lockyer occasionally has a blind man visiting us. And usually he gets about with a cane but today he had a guide dog with him and it was a yellow labrador but not rich yellow, and it was just lying down when I saw it and the dog had a whole group of people looking at it, and a woman was there who I suppose was the dog’s original trainer and she was there to help the blind guy get the knack of handling this dog.
And one of the supervisors told the lady that I am a dog trainer, and I told her that I used to trial dogs in obedience. Also today I helped clean the golf clubs as we have a few disabled people interested in playing golf, and this afternoon three of us were coming up with ideas on designing a small golf course.
Anyway, I came up with quite a few ideas for what we could use, and quite enjoyed making suggestions. However I wasn’t able to take three of the library books back today as they were having the mini buses serviced and I also needed to pick a book up too.

If the people come again with the guide dog I think I’ll might like to ask the lady how do guide dog trainers train labradors to lay down and be oblivious to all but its handler as not all trained dogs are trained to do that. But it is probably also a breed trait in some labrador strains.
