When I was a kid I used to read a bit but then I stopped, despite realising that one of the things that I wanted to do is write. And one of the things that they suggest to do if a person wants to write is to read: but I also like to add that people that want to write need to write as well as read. Anyway, I like to read books that belong in a series and one of my favourites is the Harry Potter series of books that J.K. Rowling wrote.

I guess one of the reasons why they are top of my list is because that’s when I started reading again. And the reason why I wanted to write was: to diversify my interests, as before that I trained and trialled shelties in obedience trials and as I realised that I needed things to fall back on I started to read stories. Also after I started reading again, I then got the idea about what I could write about and back then I originally called my story Mrs Mopp’s Terrible Dilemma. And some time after, my dad suggested to me that I should get the Harry Potter books.

But it wasn’t until I was holidaying at Fingal Beach with my sister Liss, that we went to a cinema and saw Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and after that I decided to get the books; and now they are my most read books. However that’s some years ago, and since then I changed my Mrs Mopp story into a short story and renamed it: Mrs Mopp’s Baked Dinner Recipes and also read other books that belong in a series by other authors.

I also read and enjoyed John Flanagan’s Ranger’s Apprentice series, a few times and have recently read the first of the eight books in one of Deltora Quest by Emily Rodda.

I haven’t publish my Mopp story yet, as I plan to write other stories about The Mopps.
