Left Leg OverworkedJuly 24th, 2008 @ 11:32 am
I have been walking with one canadian crutch for some years now, and have been getting around well but lately it haven’t deterred me from noticing that I started having problems going down slopes. However as the people at the chemist gave me two, (which I brought after renting them) I decided to use the second stick, and it pleased me when I discovered that I had no problems going down slopes.
And as I also train a miniature schnauzer whose name is Ilse, found that she wasn’t put off by me having to use two sticks to get about. She is a very confident dog.
Also when I was seeing the physiotherapist Katie told me that my left leg is overworked, as being very strong it supports most of my body weight.
Mum also told me yesterday after seeing me walking with both canadian crutches, that I walk a lot better using both. As together they help me to stay upright, as by using one made me more lopsided: I also feel that it takes away some of the pressure that my left leg had been under. And using both canadian crutches has made me more confident as I’m no longer doubtful and it has given back a bit of independence that I lost too.
