This book is one of the books that Stephen King wrote, its ISBN is 0-340-73890-1 and was first published by Hodder and Stoughton.
I found this book quite enjoyable, as I kept turning the pages and the story starts off with three eleven year old kids and their names are Bobby Garfield, Carol Gerber, and Sully John.
The story to begin with is set in Harwich Connecticut back in the sixties, and it also about people who come from another planet: as one of these people is a man named Theodore Brautigan.
Theodore mysterously turns up and as it turns out he is on the run from low men in yellow coats. As they are looking for him because he is known to them as a breaker.
He also becomes somewhat of a father figure to Bobby Garfield, and I enjoyed reading about how their relationship develops.
But Brautigan gets captured and is taken back to his planet and Bobby and his mother Liz move out of the area. Though it didn’t end there as it still followed the lives of Bobby, Carol, and Sully John and the people who were around them.

This sounds like something I might enjoy reading. This story was adapted to a film starring Anthony Hopkins as Brautigan I believe.

I thought “Hearts in Alantis” was made into a movie but wasn’t quite sure.
