Miss Potter The MovieMarch 4th, 2007 @ 7:45 am
As I haven’t wrote a review for a while decided to write one about Miss Potter as yesterday Liss took me to Redbank’s Reading Cinema to see a biographical movie about Beatrix Potter who was a person who wrote and illustrated her own stories.
Also what got me interested is finding out that Beatrix and her mother had different values such as her mother was brought up in a society that expected women to be married and have children by a certain age, and even though her daughter was a talented artist and could make up her own stories she never really expected to get married.
Beatrix Potter’s friends also intrigued me, as unlike her mother they all really admired Beatrix Potter’s abilities to draw and make up stories and Beatrix ends up being engaged to Norman who was the one who got her first book published and in doing so a friendship develops between them.
He also suggested to her that she should write other stories about her imaginative world.
However Norman and Beatrix don’t get married as Norman dies, but while on some sort of holiday with her parents Beatrix discovers Hilltop Farm; she also finds a childhood friend who sells her Hilltop Farm and later on they end up getting married.
I thought Beatrix Potter was a real charming person, and I’ll be definately getting this movie when it comes out on DVD.

I enjoyed this movie too, it was a lovely story. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the part that had you cracking up in the movie theatre Jo – when Beatrix was buying up the farms to prevent land falling into the hands of the developers, and she stood up to one who tried to give her a serve about it.

Hi Liss, thanks for informing me that her name is Beatrix Potter and not Beatrice, and having realised this I have now changed her name to Beatrix.
I have also discovered a website that tells us more about Beatrix Potter this morning and the website address is:
