Runemarks

Runemarks is a fantasy book that its author named Joanne Harris wrote. And the story was first published in Great Britain by Doubleday which is an imprint of Random House Children’s Books in 2007 and then in 2008 the book was published again by Corgi. And the book I have ISBN is 978-0-552-55575-3. This book is also about a girl with a runemark on one of her hands and her name is Maddy Smith but later in the story Maddy finds out that she has another name which is Modi. Then what we find out about Maddy is that her mother had died after she was born and the man that she thought was her father was Jed Smith.

But when Maddy was a baby she was nursed by an old lady who everyone in town thought was crazy, as she would say some weird things. Maddy also felt detached from her sister and father and she also is unpopular with everyone else in town because of her runemark.

She then later realizes in the story that these people that had little imaginations feared her and also feared what might happen because of her. But Maddy also has a friend that is called One Eye who like her also has a runemark and he educates her a bit. But he isn’t in town all the time and that part also reminded me a bit of Lord of The Rings.
