Grass For His Pillow
April 30th, 2009 @ 5:20 pm

This book that Lian Hearn wrote was first published in 2003 by Hodder Australia which is an imprint of Hachette Livre Australia Pty Limited. And my copy ISBN is 9780733623387.

Also Grass For His Pillow is the sequel to Across The Nightingale Floor and continues to follow the lives of the two main characters who are Takeo and Kaede. And in this book Takeo is now a member of the tribe as he wants to learn how to control his supernatural powers though it seems that the tribe has other plans for him. However, after he found out how he was being used by the tribe he then finds a way out as the leader sends him on a mission of recovering documents about them but Takeo doesn’t go through with what they wanted him to do and anyway the documents weren’t there but somewhere else. And while Takeo was on his way to retrieve the documents he discovers that a prophecy was made about him and he also discovers his deceased adopted father is related to him.

I looked up Across The nightingale on the youtube website and found this. And there is even a video that shows what a nightingale floor sounds like but you have to look that up yourself.

Anyway, here’s some art work based on Lian Hearn’s Tale of The Otori stories:
