This is the third book that Lian Hearn wrote that’s included in her Tales of The Otori series. And like the first two books it was first published by Hodder Australia, and this was in 2004. Hodder Australia is an imprint of Hachette Livre Australia Pty Limited and the book’s ISBN is 9780733623394.
In this book Takeo is raising an army, while he is improving on his swordsmanship as well as studying to improve his knowledge on warfare. But after he marrys Kaede they don’t stay at Terayama, as shortly after Takeo finds out what happened to Ichiro Takeo and Kaede moves to Maruyama. And while they are heading there Takeo has a bit of a problem with Kubo Makoto disregarding what Takeo advises him not to do. But then later on Makoto apologises for his idiocy. But there’s another problem that Takeo is aware of and that is there is a problem with some of his followers attitudes towards the outcastes.
And the outcastes were also the people called The Hidden. And later on when Takeo explains his connection with The Hidden to Makoto he worries about what the monk may think of him.
Brilliance of The Moon also highlights to me how important it is to have friends. As in this story Takeo finds his friend Fumio and was successful in forming an alliance with them because of his friendship with Fumio and the fact that Takeo had came alone to discuss it with Fumio’s father. But then Kaede finds out what had happened to her sisters and as she tries to get them back she walks into a trap.
