Why I Like Going to Luke’s PlaceSeptember 9th, 2009 @ 10:12 am
I’ve been going to Luke’s Place in Laidley for just over two months now, and Luke’s Place is a centre where people with all types of disabilities can go: as while we are there we have to participate in three activities and what we do varies each week so there’s something to look forward to each month.
We also know ahead of time what’s going to happen on the day we go there. As each of us that use their services are given a monthly timetable.
I also notice that since I’ve been going to Luke’s Place that I’ve been listening to quite a bit of music. And not just when I go to the centre at Laidley, but I’ve been putting on and listening to my cds more often at home. I also brought a few new cds to add to my collection. And I have also kept up with my reading, and have even broaden my interests there as well. Also recently, we have been decorating masks as there is a competition that is happening next Tuesday and the disabled people that go to the Laidley Luke’s Place aren’t the only ones that are involved in this art competition as there are other Luke’s Place Centres in Queensland too. And I’ve been told by a superviser that the prize for the mask competition is $300.00 which goes to the Luke’s Place Centre that the winner goes to. Also since completing my mask it has increased my interest in painting. As I found that doing it was rather enjoyable.
This painting activity has also made me decide to find out about “The Carder Method” and as I’ve been on youtube today I found that there are a few videos on seminars that Mark Carder gave. And in these talks he explains his method and understanding of art.
