Getting FitterSeptember 29th, 2009 @ 4:13 pm
When I went to Luke’s Place today, the Tuesday Group decided to go for a walk around the block instead of doing chair exercises. And I must be getting fitter, as the first time that I went around this block which was three or four months ago I had to stop three times after I walked a fair distance.
There was also a brick fence along the way, and so we sat on this fence for a while to give my leg muscles some rest. We also talked a bit about the dust storm, and when we decided to get up the superviser asked if I wanted to turn to go back or walk the rest of the way and told her that I wanted to walk on. So we did. And we also had our current affairs talk today: where interested people talked about what they have either heard on T.V. radio, or have read about and this time we talked about this while we were having our lunches which I thought was a better idea and the two main topics that were brought up were floods and bush fires.
And I read a couple of interesting articles about a substance that is now being found in various places in quite a few Queensland Schools. And this first became public knowledge about five years ago, but it is still a problem that seemed to have spread wider as they are now finding that it is in land fill, and is turning up in sand pits and even vinyl flooring. But they now started up a register to keep tabs on it as I read that it’s a wide spread problem in this State apparently.
And it is not so easy to get rid of as people handling it has to wear clothing that also covers everything including their head to get rid of it as it can cause serious health problems.
Then the other thing that has been decided on is that they plan to set up a website about it, and this is to help keep parents of school children informed about this matter. OK then I’ll have a go saying the word but I’m not sure if I spelt it right it is abestos.
Also getting back to the other things that we did today, and that is that some people volunteered to water the garden, and while they were doing that one person wanted to play a game on the computer. And so that was turned on. I also spoke to the superviser who plans all these various activities for us and I told her that I’ll be interested in doing a poetry page for the bi monthly newsletter that they send us.
