Ranger’s Apprentice: Halt’s Peril

This is the second half of the story as the first half is in a book called Ranger’s Apprentice: The Kings of Clonmel and the author of these books is John Flanagan. Also The Kings of Clonmel is book number 8 in the Ranger’s Apprentice series while Halt’s Peril is book 9 and the tenth book is coming and is thought to be out in November 2010 and the title they gave is Ranger’s Apprentice: The Emperor Of Nihon-Jin. Then the book called Halt’s Peril is published by Random House Australia Pty Ltd in 2009 and the book’s ISBN number is 978 1 74166 302 0. And as I said Halt’s Peril is a continuation of the story that started in the book called The Kings of Clonmel.

Then in Halt’s Peril, Will Treaty is waiting for Halt and Horace to catch up with him as at the end of The Kings of Clonmel Will sent Halt a message telling him where he was and Halt and Horace go there. And when they meet up Will is a bit disappointed in himself as he had to tell his mentor Halt that he had an unsuccessful attempt at finding where a guy called Black O’Malley has taken Tennyson and his cohorts. Also judging by the reception that Will got from this guy called Black O’Malley and having read what happened after I also think that Black O’Malley was paid by this Tennyson.

As what he tried to do was to shake Will off by trying to not let on where he took Tennyson. Then as Will met up with Halt and Horace Will’s mentor made Black O’Malley talk.  And then the reason why the trio are on his trail is because Tennyson is an orator that likes to preach about a false religion, so that he can make a profit: as he tricks people into believing what he tells them by telling them lies. But though Black O’Malley tries to stop Will, Halt, and Horace he was unsuccessful.

As the three then find another captain of a different ship, who agrees to take them somewhere near where they know he was dropped off. And Will and Halt then find tracks which they identified as the group they are following. Then as they  keep following this trail, their guesswork is proven correct.

But after Tennyson finds out that they are being followed, Halt gets wounded by a poisoned arrow, and Will and Horace, do everything that they can think of to help Halt to recover.

    One of my favourite moments in Halt’s Peril is when Will Treaty was taking the doctor back to the woods where Malcolm lived. And then after they got there Will was thinking to himself about the deformed people that also live in the woods but then another thought occurred and he thought to himself again no they aren’t deformed but just different and everyone is. This then made me think that this idea on being different is a wonderful way to think about people who can’t help being different and I guess what I’m thinking about here is not just people with deformities but also people with all types of disabilities too.
