Update On Ilse’s Retrieving

While I’m waiting for Ilse’s dumbell to come in the mail I’ve been practising retrieves with her toys, I am now giving her tidbits to entice her to bring her toys to me which is working; as I realise she likes keeping her toys to herself and this way at least she is getting something back in return. I also need to teach her to hold the toy in her mouth as right now she is still dropping the toy on the floor. Also mum told me last night that she spoke to Donna from Dog Sense, and mum told me that Donna has invited us back to participate in her puppy class for another three weeks.

    Ilse’s dumbell arrived sometime last week, I got it from J and J Dog Supplies.

    Anyway, I have been getting Ilse fetching it from my hand and unlike her toys she holds onto it. I also say these words to her, fetch, hold, give, good girl, then I give her a tit bit. She is also on a lead while I am getting her to do it.

    Then another thing I’ll like to add is, that yesterday after I got Ilse to do a little bit of heeling, I went back to the dumbell, and she reacted to it as though it was a toy; so I put the dumbell down on the floor and when I said fetch she picked it up and held onto it until I told her to give.
