Back to Luke’s PlaceJanuary 21st, 2010 @ 7:46 am
Luke’s Place at Laidley reopened last Wednesday, but I went back this Tuesday and I thought nothing much was on so brought some books as I am a reader and as I looked at the calendar when I got there I found that they were doing planning, cooking, and watching T.V.
I also discovered that a new person with a intellectual disability had joined our group, and he had morning tea with us and when he finished his mother told him take the plate and cup over to the sink like you do at home and he did but when he got to the front he did this big burp and no one said anything to him but his mother then told the supervisors now you know why I need to get him away from his father. And then after morning tea we sat together around a group of tables that were put together and discussed what we would like to do and they wrote our ideas down.
Also I told the supervisor that I sat next to that I like to scan drawings on the computer and be able to make changes to the drawings on the computer and I was then asked if I like to do a computer course? And I told this person yes.
Some others also came up with ideas too such as one person came up with the idea of doing volunteer work in an op shop and another brought up an idea of playing pool in a pub.
And after lunch people were then asked do you want to play wii? And at first I thought what are they talking about? But I then discovered that we managed to get a wii console during the break over christmas.
