Nathan’s Wish A Story About Cerebral Palsy is a picture book that was written by Laurie Lears, and illustrated by Stacey Schuett.

Also this story was first published in 2005 by Albert Whitman and Company. And the book’s ISBN number is 0807571016 and the story is about a boy called Nathan who has cerebral palsy however it doesn’t say what type of cerebral palsy he has but as he uses a wheelchair or walker to get about I say he is spastic.

Anyway, Nathan is often seen next door, as he likes to talk to Miss Sandy about the wild birds that she looks after and if she can she then returns them to the wild. But being returned to the wild unfortunately doesn’t happen to an owl that Nathan named Fire as she has a broken wing and as it turned out this bird is too weak to be returned. Nathan also feels some sort of connection with this owl he had named as he knew what the feeling was like not being able to do things, but he wanted to see if he could do something for the bird. And so he went on the internet and got some useful information and when he tells Miss Sandy about it she then decides to give it a go as she had some baby birds that needed looking after and so she puts them in with this depressed owl and at first nothing happens but after some time had past Miss Sandy went over to Nathan’s house and wheeled him over to her house so that he could see that Fire was now feeding the baby birds.

And seeing this obviously made Nathan realize that he has done something useful, and he then starts finding other things that he could do to help Miss Sandy.
