More On PeglegSeptember 2nd, 2007 @ 9:32 am
Pegleg is the name dad gave to the kookaburra he feeds whenever it comes around wanting a bit of chicken carcass. He calls him that as the bird has one leg sticking out as it has been broken and is why dad feeds it. Anyway, mum told me yesterday that Pegleg found a snake on our property and ate it. Feeding the wildlife isn’t encouraged but some people do and dad made this rule, that if the birds aren’t game enough to get it out of the container themselves while he is holding the container out then they don’t get fed.

Mum told me this afternoon that dad thought that Pegleg had died, as the kookaburra was having problems with his good leg. Then a couple of hours later mum told me that dad has seen him again.

Jo I heard that Pegleg has been renamed “Stumpy” because he has now lost use of both his legs. I saw him on Sunday, nestled in the bark chips in the garden.
