Drawspace Art Lesson B06
October 4th, 2007 @ 9:35 am

I have nearly completed the fifth of Brenda’s B group lessons, and in this lesson she points out that “learning to draw is learning to see.” And also in this lesson Brenda discusses what values are as she says that it is the most important ingredient if we want to go for the realistic three dimensional look. So how do we go about creating that look? Well we can make a tight grip of our pencils to make our shadings darker keeping in mind that there is also various grades of soft and hard pencils, as I recall the softer the lead the darker our compositions are and the harder the lead the lighter. And then another way to make our shading light is to loosen our grip of our pencils.

We can also enhance our drawings by paying attention to angles, curves, and straight lines; then another thing that we can also do is vary their length, as when we try this it leaves a specific effect. Also another one of Brenda’s suggestions is that we should pay attention to spaces as they also leave an effect too.
