Good things have been happening in the last couple of weeks.

Workwise, last week I had a very positive end of probation interview, along with an unexpected pay raise. Earlier this week, I had a constructive meeting with our auditor and he showed a lot of support for how I’ve been working. Then later this week, the monthly management meeting passed the annual budget I’d prepared and had lots of good things to say about my work. So after months of feeling I’ve been steering without a rudder and not sure how I was going, I now have plenty of indication that I’m on the right track and that I’m working effectively. My own confidence has gone up in leaps and bounds.

My last assignment came back with good marks. I was not sure about this one because although I know the subject material pretty well, there was some ambiguity with the assignment question. Again, now that I know I’m on the right track I can move onto my next units with confidence.

Hubby returns to work next week. Not that this is necessarily a good thing. He has to keep his ankle in the cast, keep his crutches, can’t drive and is restricted to light duties. According to hubby, “light duties” is whatever crappy jobs the OIC throws his way. Since he can’t drive, hubby will be getting a lift to and from work each day with me. Hubby has been quite happy entertaining himself at home the last few weeks, and would have been content to stay at home another couple of weeks until his ankle had completely healed. Unfortunately WorkCover have a policy of getting the injured worker back to work as soon as possible, ignoring good sense sometimes.
